Free will sounds easy. It sounds like doing whatever you want and not following rules, but there’s the trick. Life has rules and laws, whether we like it or not. Some laws govern us as citizens: county, state, and federal. There are laws of physics, such as the third law, which states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Then, you have rules of behavior that can be set forth by authority figures such as parents, teachers, and coaches. Rules of morality: sometimes those rules are guided by a religious doctrine, but they are innate, mainly as that gut feeling when you are about to harm. So, this got me thinking: if we obey all the rules and laws set forth by all the areas in our life that govern us, then have we given away our will, which seems counter to being a free people? I mean, being free is acting on free will, right?
I think free will carries a lot of responsibility. It is about making conscious, thoughtful, and reflective decisions considering the bigger picture. It requires one to measure all outcomes to all things, including the self, before acting. Free will is an action that requires a human being to be in control of themselves fully. Free will means governing the self in an alignment of mind, body, and spirit. It is not executed on impulse, for it requires a person to be still in the moment of all living things. Actions disregarding all these constructs are not free will; they are lawless, careless, and reckless. Free will is peace on earth; when every human being acts under free will, which was granted to us by birth, there will be peace on earth. There will be no need for man-made laws or rules, and we will have ascended.
